SUDBURY, Mass. ― Jan. 31, 2018 ― Revolabs® Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Yamaha Corporation and part of the Yamaha UC department, today announced that Andy Cooper, manager of pro audio application engineering at the Yamaha R&D Centre, and Philip Stanley, Revolabs’ Northern Europe regional sales manager, will lead an instructional session at ISE 2018. The session is part of the Standing Conference for Heads of Media Services (SCHOMS) U.K. Higher Education Hosted Buyer Programme and will take place on Feb. 8 at 11:15 a.m. in rooms G001/G002 at RAI Amsterdam. The session will address the best settings for networked audio and how best to implement and manage it for maximum flexibility in educational AV services.

“There are many network-enabled audio products on the market today that allow wider distribution of audio, but it can be challenging to figure out how to make the best use of this type of technology and manage it,” said Cooper. “When properly implemented, networked audio can enhance universities’ AV services for lecture capture and distribution, remote learning, multisite streaming events, and more. In this session, we’ll help technology managers understand what it means to integrate networked audio in a university, including the infrastructure they need, the advantages it will bring, and how to promote it internally.”

Cooper and Stanley will take technology managers on a journey through the landscape of networked audio, discussing how and why it has evolved and its relevance to the education market. They will attempt to demystify the many terms used in the market, including explaining the differences between the Dante, AVB, Ravenna, AES67, and CobraNet protocols. Additionally, the presenters will deliver a comprehensive overview of the key reasons for introducing networked audio to a tertiary institution. The 35-minute session will include time for a Q&A.
